Foundations of Literacy: Inside our Early Years Program

Discover how our Nursery, LKG, and UKG wings focus on phonics, sensory learning, and motor skill development to set up lifelong learning.

Foundations of Literacy: Inside our Early Years Program

A child's brain develops more rapidly during the first five years than at any other time. At BKR Academy, our Foundation Wing (Nursery, LKG, UKG) is specifically designed to leverage this critical window.

Integrated Phonics & Vocabulary

Rather than rote learning of the alphabet, we teach reading through synthetic phonics. Children learn:

  • **Grapheme-Phoneme Correspondence:** Recognizing the sounds that letters represent.
  • **Blending & Segmenting:** Blending individual sounds to read whole words.
  • **Story Telling:** Developing active listening and expressing ideas creatively.
  • Sensory and Motor Coordination

Our classrooms are equipped with specialized tactile Montessori materials. By using wooden blocks, clay, and sand tables, children refine their fine motor skills, which directly translates to handwriting control later.

We maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio in the Foundation Wing to ensure each child receives customized support. Our goal is to make school a place of joy, curiosity, and warmth.
